FedEx invoice for Amazon purchase

Hi all,

I ordered 2 items from Amazon.co.uk. The items came from France and were sold by a 3rd party seller through Amazon. I paid the balance and check out and received the items as I should. 

Today I have an invoice from fedex for a payment of £9.23 to be paid ??? 

This is the first time this has happened and I have ordered a lot of stuff from Amazon. I have spoke to Amazon and they are going to get back to me within 48 hours tbh they were pretty helpful just wondered if I need to pay this or not as never had an invoice sent before.

If it's for customs duty then yes you need to pay it.

They weren't that helpful, it would only take a few seconds for them to check if you'd prepaid import fees!

What did you pay beyond the price of the item? It should show if you've prepaid anything for importing. If you have then you shouldn't be liable for any extra fees. I had a disputed charge with FedEx a few years ago and they wouldn't waive the charge but also didn't pursue it beyond a couple of reminder letters.

just got home from work so on the invoice it shows this:

subtotal (incl. VAT) 2 £11.96 20% £14.35 £28.70 

Shipping Charges £11.66 £14.00 £14.00

Invoice total £42.70

VAT rate Item subtotal (excl. VAT) VAT 

subtotal 20% £35.58 £7.12 

Total £35.58 £7.12

nothing about import/customers duty so i take it thats what the £9.32 is for then

Customs duty is only usually applicable over the £135 threshold.  May depend on exactly what the items are though (I don't know if/what is liable for customs charges below the threshold).

Yeah, so if you are under £135 there shouldn't be anything to pay extra.

It also could be a scam.

How did you receive the invoice? Email, on your parcel, text message, amazon email?
Could you share the exact url link - it asks you to pay the £9 ? (we can tell you if it's real or fake).

It is a letter I got through the post it arrived yesterday. I received the Amazon parcel 2 weeks ago.

Got the letter here it says it’s a duty and tax invoice at the top with an invoice showing the 2 bags at £11.96 totalling 23.92 then a subtotal of £35.58
