recommended providers

any thoughts on the best providers to start a personnel stocks & shares ISA. There are plenty out there but I would like to be able to talk to someone rather than just do it all on-line.

Bestinvest are not the cheapest, but good for starting out, as they have coaches that you can book an appointment with. They are not advisers, but they can answer any questions you may have. Have a look on their website.

Most are on line, but you can call/message if you have any issues.
Otherwise you are probably looking at opening one in a branch of a big bank or building society. Probably though they will be looking to guide you towards taking paid advice.

Be aware that most providers will not offer you any advice on what to invest in within the S&S ( unless you pay for it) , only on the mechanics.
However there are guides on their websites to sort of point you in the right direction.
An exception are robo - advisors. Here you answer some questions online and they will recommend an investment from their range for you. It is pretty basic stuff and the cost will be generally higher than a true DIY platform/ISA.
