From memory, the photo has to be under a specific size (bytes, not height x width)DullGreyGuy said:
Not sure about "usual size", it may not be the UK passport photo size but we are more the outlier than the norm. India, China, US, Indonesia are all square photos and most 2" x 2" or metric equivalent.maman said:I agree it's not the simplest of websites. IIRC there were masses of what seemed to be duplicate questions and they wanted a square photo uploaded rather than the usual passport size. 🤔
We just took ours ourselves, cropped it & made sure it was one of specified file types0 -
For e-applications there is both, a min/max file size and a requirement that the photo is square.KittenChops said:

The "size" is a bit arbitrary when it comes to digital images as thats the choice of the person printing it as it can be printed any size by adjusting the DPI, those most file formats have meta data that define the intended size0 -
Re the bit in bold - are you sure? I've just found our photos from January this year - they are not square but were accepted. (Although on the eVisa, the photos are square)DullGreyGuy said:

Perhaps they've changed the requirements since then0 -
I think that you should ask the question to the Indian authorities and if all is well, keep their reply to hand.Itsonlymoney2 said:I've just purchased e-Visas for India, arriving 02/12/2024. The visa states 'double entry', but we are on a cruise and stopping at 3 ports in India. We were not aware of this until the visa was granted.
Is this likely to be a problem? Has anyone experienced the same issue?
I do have experience of exiting India to Nepal for a day on a single entry, and this was fine (they didn’t mark my passport), but this was with a trekking company who arranged it and there seemed to have been an arrangement.0 -
It's what it states on the formal governmental website but maybe they are more pragmatic and just make it square for you as long as it has enough resolution/coverage to be cut square and still meet the other requirements.KittenChops said:
