I'm thinking of changing to Community Fibre as the speeds seem a lot faster for the same price as what I'm paying now.  Is this too good a deal?  Is there a catch?

Speeds of up to 920 for £26 a month which is what I'm paying for 150.
Or I can get 150 speeds for £18.99.

And also, this all aside, how much hassle is it to actually change broadband?  I work from home and need the internet.  They have mentioned putting a hole in the wall, but there is already one from when my current company drilled one.
Pink Sproglettes born 2008 and 2010
Mortgages (End 2017) - £180,235.03
(End 2021) - £131,215.25 DID IT!!!
(End 2022) - Target £116,213.81

Community Fibre will need to bring their own fibre to your property, either underground or via a pole, depending on how your property is served, and yes they will need to drill a hole and fit their terminating equipment inside.
CF use CGNAT, there are a number of issues that it can cause, mainly if you want to host anything at home but should be fine for most users.
It would be advisable to get the new service installed and working before cancelling the current of you cant afford any breaks in service.
More speed is great, but just be aware that you may notice any difference, depending on your usage
  • I am with Community Fibre CF for over 3 years now and I am paying £25pcm for speeds of 930 download and 920Mbps upload. I was with Virgin media before that for their Giga Broadband and the WI-Fi router was very weak. I managed to get a good mesh to extend it over the house, but even on a direct lan hardwired connection, I could never achieve download speeds over 600Mbps and only 40-45Mbps uploads. Also I was paying over £80 a month for the first 18 months. When that was up, the bill went up to over £160pcm and CF was a God sent. There is no more loading or waiting now. If you manage to get the CF 920Mbps go for it, you will never look back.

One thing to put in your calendar is after 2 years, please ask them to sign you on a new 2 years contract in order to reduce your bill back to £25pcm. After the first 2 years, your bill will go to around £28-£29pcm. If you sign a new 2 years contract, you are back on £25pcm for very fast Internet. The Linksys router from CF is so powerful for Wi-Fi you will get it almost everywhere in the house. If you need to get extender or two, please purchase the same router and installation is very easy.

    All the best.

CF increase your bill by £2 every April so by the end of the 24 month contract your £25 is now £29, it then rises by £4 being "out of contract". You're not going to get those speeds by WiFi either, was your Virgin speeds measured via WiFi by any chance? You obviously weren't paying £80 just for 1GB broadband BTW so that's apples and oranges even though it would be dearer regardless.
