Ultrasonic tooth cleaning for dogs

Has anyone got/had experience with ultrasonic tooth brushes for dogs?
They're quite expensive and I don't want to splash out unless I'm convinced it's going to work.
The amazon reviews are mixed
Dog is a 3yo mini schnauzer has teeth cleaned manually 2-3 times per week but has calcified plaque on rear teeth.

Our groomer uses one, each dog has their own head.
