She doesn't sound like a true friend, she is trying to get you to overstretch yourself just to give her more money when her house isn't worth that much - go for the other cottage you found instead.

Ok, so now I am really pee'd off, plucked up the courage to text my friend this morning to tell her we had found a house and made an offer that has been accepted,

she has just replied saying 'well done, I'm a happy girl, I'm in an all win place, if we don't get this house cheap we're stayin and havin a big 2 storey build yipee!'

I can't believe she hasn't even asked anything about the house what we're buying, she knows we were considering moving away so I would have thought she would have at least shown some interest in what it was like and where it is?

Sounds like she is the one that is peed off if you ask me. She clearly wants the new build but on her terms - and sounds as though she is just trying to try the "oneupmanship" thing - trying to make you jealous! Suddenly now they are looking into the extra 2 storeys???? What about all the other work that needs doing on the house????

I bet they end up staying put and doing nothing......

She doesn't sound much like a friend to me - she sounds bitter and twisted and I wouldn't drag yourself down to her level. You are moving on, have loads to look forward to and if I were you, I would leave her to wallow in her own jealousy for a while - and let her be the next one to make contact with you - not vice versa! Hope it all goes well. :T
