  • Are you registered at your local doctors or hospital?, someone there could sign it.

ETA  your bank or building society.
Yeah, I'm registered at my local GP but I don't know if they'll do it. In fact I don't know if they can anymore, I know they don't do passport applications anymore. Knowing my luck the bank won't help either 🙄

Have you explained your problem to the Housing Association? They may have other suggestions.
Will do if I can't find anyone, surely my family or the person I'm swapping with will have someone who will do it. But knowing my luck probably not and the housing association will insist...

Try the GP's surgery, as suggested. Failing that, try any faith centre close to you, any community centre. Just go along with some ID (preferably a combination showing photo, name, address) and ask. It's also Friday - see if your MP is holding a surgery today. They or one of their staff should be happy to help also

OP, just try asking one of your neighbours or even the postie. If they say no, so be it. When we were in the midst of our last house sale/purchase we needed something signing urgently and the man fixing next door's roof did it (over the garden wall :)) so it's deffo worth a try!

Yeah, I'll try one of them, hopefully it'll work out.

That's pretty funny lol. I'll ask, if they say no and the worst comes to the worst, I'm sure the local drunk will do it for some booze money 😂

    Housing officer?
No point asking the GP, they’re not going to do it. The days of friendly GPs having time to read and stick their signature on a form are long gone.
All shall be well, and all shall be well, and all manner of things shall be well.

Pedant alert - it's could have, not could of.

oh I don't know! I was doing quite a few odds and ends until I retired a few years back - most of the time didn't take long, donation to the friends of the practice funds - couldn't do UK passports though. But I am probably a bit of a relic

I would suggest just asking anyone - postie, neighbour, someone in a local charity shop ..

(I'm fairly new here and haven't kept in touch with my old ones)
Surely this is a good time to reach out to your old friends then both so you still have human contact and have someone to do this
  • When we last moved our local sub-postmaster at the local post office signed our paperwork, maybe try a local corner shop or somewhere that "knows" you by sight would help out?
I suffer with social anxiety but something this important, that might positively improve your life makes it worth taking a risk.  They could say no but I hope you find someone helpful.  Good luck.
