Lost passport headache

I fly next month but I’ve lost my passport I filled the form out yesterday and got a phone call then they told me it’s been sent to another department and I need to wait until they call me but they said there’s no timeframe I’ve told them I fly next month and I need a new passport asap I can’t get a new one until I get the email saying it’s been cancelled but I won’t get that until the other department calls me and again there’s no timeframe I’ve called 3 times today and got the same response has anyone been in the same situation? Is there anything else I can? Thanks

Why do you need to wait? Just apply and tick the lost/stolen box?0

They told me on the phone I need to wait until I receive an email with a number confirming that it’s been cancelled0

Phoning them 3 times a day isn't going ti change anything. If you expect a 2 day response then you need to lower your expectations.1

Which service did you request? Theres a standard which takes a few weeks, or a urgent service which takes days. I thought its one process to apply for a new one and within that process, they cancel the old one and issue a new one.0

I thought that too I’ve just reported it lost again I got an email saying it’s not been cancelled as they haven’t been able to contact me I haven’t even had a phone call todaysaajan_12 said:Which service did you request? Looking on Gov.uk is does say that the 'lost' passport must be cancelled before you can apply for a replacement. I'm assuming that's the situation the OP finds themself in.

Yes I spoke to a friend and when they lost theirs it was cancelled the same dayInbetweeners said:
