Vodafone to 3rd party Vodafone provider, can't port my number?

Hi there,

My current contract with VF ends next month, they can't/won't match an online deal I have found with Fonehouse, still on the VF network. They are saying I won't be able to port my old number over as it can't be done from VF to a 3rd party provider. Is this accurate? I have ported from different networks in the past, but never stayed with the same provider but through a 3rd party provider. Not sure if this is true, or just trying to get me to stay. Any ideas please?

I guess if accurate I can do a one month SIM only deal, port my number to that, then in a month start the new contract and port the number again, effectively back to VF via GiffGaff or similar. Does that sound sensible?

It's true, can't port from one Vodafone contract to another, however.....

Try finding a third party seller that offers an "upgrade" to your Vodafone contract rather than a new one, I've used

for three years. Same SIM, same number, no PACs.

Cheapest deals need you to claim cashback every few months but no-claiming deals are available. Make sure that the Vodafone level (Red, Basics) matches what you have/want.

What do you mean by 'third party provider'? Are you looking at an online deal for Vodafone itself, or for an MVNO that runs on the Vodafone network?

If it's the latter, you can use a PAC to port your number, despite what you're being told.
