Selling home at this time of year ?

I wonder what peoples opinion of this was to put the house on the market this time of year? I understand that spring is the best time to move. I recently put mine on the market but not had much interest. I’ve decided to give it till the end of October And then pull the house off the market after this time. I just wondered if anyone else had theirs on the market and how it is going? Thank you.

    If its priced right for the location it makes little difference when a property goes on the market.  House opposite me went up for sale three weeks ago, the sold board was up within a week.

    What I have noticed is from the sold board going up to an actual move is taking far longer than it used to.

    At the right price with the right advert most houses are still 'moving'. Although usually the peak is in the first half of the year - I think some people were waiting for a rate drop - so there'll be those that were hanging on that are now looking. How are other houses doing in your area? As much as you want the best price - is it priced to sell? Or priced at an aspirational level? Is the advert good with decent photos that really reflect what you've got on offer?

    Are you looking to buy as well?  Because the flip side is that if it's not such a good time to sell, presumably that also makes it a slightly better time to buy.

    OP, we put ours up for sale in October last year. Had lots of viewings, got an offer in January, they pulled out in February, got another offer in March, agreed sale. We moved 3 weeks ago.

    It really doesn't matter what time of year a house is put up for sale.

    What really matters is pricing it right for the location and the market at the time it goes to market.

    If you are getting no interest at all it would suggest that the pricing isn't right.
  • Thank you for the replies. I also think and agree that people are waiting for rates to fall. I am even considering taking it off as I’m not sure this is the right time for me to move however I will give it a few more weeks. I have had enough for putting however he seems to be messing about so I’m not sure that will go anywhere. 
  • It's all about local demand for your type of property. 3-bed houses in my area are mainly selling within a week or two unless they have serious issues. Prices seem to have stayed fairly stable the last six months and I do live in an area where property is considered 'cheap' compared to lots of areas of the country (North West) so that might have something to do with it. Less demand for 1 and 2 beds, and same for 5 or more beds, so they often take a bit longer to sell.

    I second what I have highlighted in bold.  We have recently bought a property, viewed it in March then completed and moved at the end of July. Another house on the same road has had a sold sign outside for the whole duration of our buying journey and still to this date.

    Aren't there stamp duty changes next April?
    So doesn't it make sense to market ASAP as people will bring forward their purchases?
  • @lisyloo mine it falls under the threshold for stamp duty
