Why are they paired together out of curiosity in that like rubber sleeve and yeah I’ll do that thanks
No idea, perhaps to keep them tidy.
It's just a rubber sleeve holding them together, you should be able to carefully split the sleeve with a Stanley knife.

But offer the new (petrol) ones up first, they might fit. Though I expect they might be shaped differently or of different lengths.

If you have to cut and shut one, make sure it's not kinked anywhere, that'll restrict flow to your heater and it'll perform badly in winter.

  • Ok so going to order part This morning had a quick check under again small leak under bottom heater pipe but also small leak here it what the hell is this for lol

It's the drain for the air intake for the heater or it's leaking there because the drain is blocked.

The plastic grill under the windscreen is where the air is drawn in for the heater.
It's open so catches water, so it has to drain out the bottom.

Under that grill will be a plenum or chamber. The heater intake it's self sticks up proud from the bottom of the chamber and water will run off down drains.

When the drains clog with rotting leaves and road grit, the chamber fills with water.
Initially you hear water slosh around when cornering, then as the water level rises more, it cascades over the heater inlet (that sitting proud) and runs through the heater into the front footwells.

They do need occasional attention, usually just a quick inspection to see if they are clear or the rotting leaves scraping out.

You often find a drain each side, I'm not overly familiar with the scuttle on this model, so might have to search the VX forms to find out where and how to clean them.

  • Again can’t thank you enough yeah I should maybe not panic as much and maybe take the time to find out myself lol.

poured water over windscreen and as you said any water that goes through the grill then comes out the bottom so doing what it’s meant to do.
i just seen water and the first time and was like what the hell is that lol I’ve took the flap off and cleaned inside but drop the plastic flap and I’m now trying to find it!!!

Matrix heater hose has been ordered and should be with me tomorrow so hopefully I can stop bugging you with stupid questions hahaha
    thanks as always

You could do with finding the flap, otherwise your heater will be able to pull air from under the bonnet and you might start to smell the engine in the car.

They aren't stupid questions, you're talking interest in looking after your car and as it's a money saving forum, you're looking at doing it yourself.

Ask, research, take your time,  be patient and you'll do a good job.
You might even get around to replacing your fuel filter!
  • Well appreciate your patience and taking the time to reply found the flap it’s now back on.

There are various Vauxhall forums and it might be worthwhile joining one of those.

Models do tend to throw up the same sort of faults.
Obviously keen owners like a bit of diy and Vauxhall/Opel are popular cars.

You'll find the better vehicle/manufacturer specific forums are full useful information and other helpful owners particularly as the cars get older and more and more try and fix them themselves.

Some also come with various discounts from parts suppliers which is usually handy.

Some even post their diy disasters as a warning of what not to do!
  • All done thanks again for all your help and advice
