it could be an error from the installer by just putting zero's when majority of meters are zero's to start with I would have thought. The app is showing the kwh used daily. It's no where 3000 kwh.

Everywhere it indicates the start meter reading wasn't zero.

This is my final bill from So energy. For 26 days I used 730 kwh and in 12 days I have used 3000.
  • I'd completely ignore that SO bill, because one of the readings is an estimate so it means nothing.

I'm not disagreeing with you - just pointing out how E.ON will interpret your complaint.

The best thing you can probably do is ask them to check the detailed smart meter readings to see what the earliest value received was, then use something close to that as an opening reading rather than zero.  You might need to do that through a formal complaint.

There are also some apps & websites where you can go and find the detailed readings yourself and do the same checks.

What does the yellow sticker on the meter say?  That gas meter is 2 years old so it's feasible it could have been used previously

Difficult to prove but much more likely than a deliberate falsification, from which he had nothing to gain.

I don't have gas but I was recently able to download a file showing my half hourly usage of electricity for every half hour since since the meter was installed about a year ago. The data was of usage, not the actual meter reading but if you can do the same thing for gas, and I presume you can, then that would tell you exactly how much gas you used.

Easy to prove if you can download the data.

Is the installation date on the yellow tag incorrect as well? It shows July instead of August.

The label has a wrong date on it. It was installed on 15/08.  A yellow sticker on the meter has a correct date.

Which app or site did you use for hourly data? I have downloaded uswitch app and connected with the monitor. This is what it shows

I am registered for the Bright app and that allowed me access to the data from https://glowmarkt.com/pages/property/energy-data

Or you could try https://data.n3rgy.com/consumer-login but that limits the amount of data you can download at a time.

I don't know how either of these work for gas as I only have electricity.
