Eon gas usage

Hi,  I had my Eon Smart meter installed on 15 August. I recently moved over to Eon.

I have looked at the app and they charged on 26/08 £159 for Gas and £19.03 for Electric.  That's for 11 days. The gas is extremely high.

on regular basis the meter transmits data to Eon. The above is daily usage for Gas which is no where near £159. There is no bill produced but in translation it says £159 for Gas.

When I go to meter reading section it says last meter read 27/08 for 267.046.

A few days ago I looked at my Gas meter and it was showing up charges like £17 since last bill.

I have sent them a WhatsApp message and waiting a reply.

Any adv will be much appreciated.

Thanks

No-one will be able to help with £ costs. Please share known meter readings on/between the relevant dates, then we can work out your kWh usage and whether the charges are correct.

It also looks like your smart meter has stopped sending readings every day - have you asked your supplier to look into that?

Was the £159 your direct debit amount. Could that just be the amount they're taking each month based on your estimated future usage?

If the meter was put in reading zero, then that's about 3000kWh in 12 days - which could easily be £159 (and probably more).

It's never been £159 for 12 days. It's only changed after the smart meter install.

I had a chat with Eon and they said to check the start read and to check the yellow lavel on the meter. I have been at work all day.

£159 for 12 days works out £13 a day that's like £400 a month. We are not even in winter yet.  There is something wrong.

So they've said the same thing as me:  "If the meter was put in reading zero", and they've asked you to check what it says the meter was put in reading.

Check what the start read was.

The yellow tag is showing start reading zero's but that isn't possible.

The meter read  27/08 was 267 now its 270. In a day it used 3 units. For 12 days it should bee  no more than 36 units. 257 units in 12 days is allot.

Cist since last bill. I checked the gas meter a few days ago and it was showing £19.

Do you have anything to prove that it wasn't at zero when it was put in and the technician was deliberately forging that label?

No I don't I didn't check the meter read when he left. But the cost now indicates the meter read wasn't zero.

Also.the electric meter read shows up on the app the next day. Gas didn't.

The cost now indicates that the meter read was zero.

What you're trying to argue is that the rate of usage now, if projected backwards, suggests that the meter read wasn't zero.

It's a legitimate argument, but it's speculation from which you are effectively accusing the installer of forging the label.  That's a strong claim to make from speculation and a feeling that it just can't be right.
