Monmouthshire BS

Got a letter from them today.

Several mistakes with my address, spelling, non capital letters.

I decided to ring them up because I know my address exists, same as my previous addresses of which I'm pretty sure I had to put into the application form when applying for the instant access account, woman I spoke to was all like you need to send ID, bank statements etc, it says on the letter etc, I'm like no there's nothing on the letter stating that, all I have is letter & change of address form, she's like well you should have a leaflet about ID, I'm like no, she was like I'm going to have to get a new letter etc issued, so after going through things she comes back to me saying she's still got records for me despite me closing things with them ages ago and all I need to do is complete the change of address form & post it, no ID etc required.

Clearly nobody knows what they are doing at Monmouthshire.

Really doesn't fill me with confidence going forward.

*SIGH*

Comments

  • Also during the phone call I never got the opportunity to list previous addresses & the call quality seemed to get really bad towards the end, either that or she pretended she couldn't hear me
  • Just looked on the form, not sure what to put for accounts to be amended section, I had a regular that I closed but I'm applying for an instant access account.

Also what do I put for old address there's only room for 1 address.

Guessing that's the address I originally opened the Regular?, because that's 2 addresses ago, but I requested my Regular Saver money while I was at the previous address I was at, so 1 address ago

    ARGH!

    Another phone call needed
  • Right they told me to leave the accounts to be amended blank & to put the old address as the address I was living at when I opened it, now posted the thing off, hopefully I can get it open now then build up membership for any loyalty etc accounts that come along.

For old address you’d have to put whatever address is on their system. If you were just doing an online withdrawal from your Regular Saver to your nominated account at your last address, no address would be entered so I’d guess they don’t have that one. Can you remember ever updating your address with Mon BS before? If not, then address at original application.

I wonder if I’ll have similar fun, as I added a phone number they didn’t previously have.

Do you have any open accounts with them currently?

I never really got started with them in terms of a regular saver, basically I funded it once, not realising how old fashioned etc & then became stuck trying to get my money back, they kept trying to fob me off with cheques in the post but even that wasn't straightforward, fast forward to sometime this year they did a fast payment or something to the Virgin Money account I paid into the regular from so I thought good account closed that's me over and done with.

Recently I saw they've launched a 6%, so I thought ok let's open a instant access account to build up loyalty should they decide to do things like this again.

And today's thread brings things up to date.

So since opening the regular I moved twice, posted the form off now.

    That’s like 100% crap

companies like that wouldn’t get my business. If they can’t even get their basic admin sorted for new customers, it isn’t a good sign.

That letter is shocking considering they are supposed to be a professional organisation. The person who wrote it clearly didn’t proof read it after.

It's all 100% genuine from Monmouthshire BS (Building Society but could have another meaning)

Seems they made at least 1 spelling error in the actual letter content too, let alone my address
