Sony Ericsson K850i

Options
My daughter has the SE K850i camera/phone which I very much like. In Jan/Feb, I will be due for an upgrade and wondered if SE had brought out anything else better since this model was launched.

The strange thing, is that I am using an old SE which had been shelved after I replaced it with a Motorola Razr, but have never been/felt comfortable with, hence an unused Razr lies back in it's original box hardly touched.

Once my upgrade date it due, I'd like to claim my upgrade which hopefully will be a SE, so what suggestions do you have?

My requirements are simple. A good camera spec, largish screen, etc. I don't or won't be using radio/net from it.

I don't know about Sony Ericson but Nokia N82 which will be out end of January is supposed to be the best camera phone to date.

I can't wait to get mine

the w910i and w960i look quite good.

they both have large screens and the w960i has a better 3.2mp autofocus camera compared to the w910i's 2mp fixed focus camera

Are you trying to advise this guy? Because the w960i is a HUGE gap from the from the k850i.

Unless OP already has a really expensive contract the w960 is going to be extortionate, as its got a 8gb memory and wifi etc etc when the k850i spec is nothing like that.

UIQ3 software is REALLY buggy as well, well it is on my w950i (and as far as i'm aware they have the same software). So if you want a good simple phone with good camera spec k850i will probably do the job! I have no idea about the Nokias though although the N73 has a half decent camera and is 3.2mp (so the same as the K800i) but is a quite a bit older than the K850i.

Hi, forgot to provide the contract info. I's about £20 per month for 120 rollever mins. Unlimited texts. So you see, pretty basic and the finance suits me fine.

We are retired and the phone is for occasional use when out, and for pics/bluetooth. (Digressing, our landline is TT with free calls/broadband £9.95 plus line rental)

I have the K850i and it takes sometime to get used to, the buttons are tiny and the touch screen take a little getting used to but over all ive had it 2 months now and i love it, but try and get into a shop for a try of the phone and see how you feel with it.

I'm the reverse tried it for a couple of months and now have gone back to my Nokia 6300 for work, as I'm sick of the touch buttons at the bottom of the screen coming in to play when the phone is glued to my lug hole, so it'll be off to eBay with it. Shame really as it is a really nice phone, eventually got used to the buttons.
    Cheers

I've just seen the 850 and the sensor keys which I didn't fancy. I did note the screen was smaller than the 810 but it had a sliding lens cover. When will they get everything the right way round? I've asked that they get me the 810 in for Tuesday, although I do have the option to change my mind.
