If you want to remove speech marks, you could just CTRL+F, click the 'Replace' Tab and under 'Find what:' enter "
and under Replace with leave it totally blank (not even a space).
Just tried it your way, and that works perfectly, thanks. The spurious " disappear too.
I realised that (after a little play around) you have to highlight column A first (where all the text is), and then use the "text to columns" button.
I can then just add filters and change the column widths to my liking.
