Just wish Barclaycard would work on the activation problem with their app. Have had card and pin number since the end of August but the app still doesn't work!
I access/check my Barclaycard alongside my other Barclays accounts in the Barclays app, although I've got the Barclaycard app installed, I never use it.

More by luck than judgement, I've just discovered a painless way to add an Amazon Barclaycard to my Google Wallet: do it from within the Barclaycard app, and not Google Wallet.

If you open the app and then tap on The Amazon Barclaycard, it takes you to the screen showing your transactions. Between the total amount outstanding and the Amazon Rewards amount are three icons. The middle one is Your Cards. Tap on this, and there's an option to add the card to Google Wallet. Tap on this and there are a couple of other screens to get through - accepting Ts & Cs and stuff - and then the job's done. No waiting for text messages, no phoning Barclaycard.

The only problem now is that the latest version of Google Wallet doesn't seem to want to let me reorder the cards in it.

I'm on Version 24.37.678820861 and can reorder payment cards (showing as current version in Google Play store for me).
  • Good spot @blue.peter! Now that you've said that, I'm pretty sure that's what I did the first time round, to add the card to the GW on my phone, that'd be why I didn't recall any issues at the time.  Unfortunately it only works for the first device you want to add it on as after that it just says "Added To Google Wallet" there, so it wasn't an option when I went to add it to the watch later.

    Yes, same version here.

Anyway, I've cracked it now. Last night, I scrolled down the list as far as "Add a payment card", but didn't see that there was a an "Edit card order" button below that. Or perhaps I'd simply forgotten that I had to use it - it's a long time since I last reordered my cards, and I was probably using a different version then. Interestingly, when I went looking for instructions for reordering, I didn't see anything telling me that I needed to use such a button.

I got an email just today telling me that "Barclaycard holders can now add their card to Google Wallet". I just couldn't be bothered to go through a phone call routine to add it previously, but now you can add it just like other cards; no phone call needed any more. Hurrah!
