  • There is a wonderful Italian restaurant in Leith Walk called Vittorio's - you do need to book in advance

Just a quick mention for the Beltane Fire Festival - Held annually on the 30th of April. Its not free but at £5.50, it is very good value for one of the more dramatic & unusual evenings you can see in that city.

If the weather is nice you can always head for the beach at Portobello (using local bus service) There are usually activities on the beach like volleyball or sand sculpting etc. Portobello swimming pool is also in front of the beach and there are plenty of cafes along the High Street or Hotel/Pubs along the front with play areas. If the weather is not so good they have indoor bowling at the leisure centre.

Check out the Edinburgh Evening News "Whats on in Edinburgh" for lots of other family days out and activities in Leith and surrounding areas. Leith Links,Pilrig Park,Dalmeny St Park.... or get the bus out to Crammond and walk over to Crammond Island......:D
