How to disable SMS text delivery to my landline 'phone

Appreciate guidance on this issue...

I wish to completely disable SMS text delivery to my landline 'phone. These texts are usually presented as a garbled voice message. I rarely answer calls from unknown numbers these days so these garbled voice messages end up on my answerphone.

I added curfew times using the BT facility years ago - and just confirmed they are still as I set them - but these curfew times don't appear to apply if you're with a different telecoms provider (I'm currently with NOW TV).

Question: Can I stop all SMS texts being delivered to my landline 'phone (i.e. at all times).

Thanks.

You could switch off voicemail - but that would mean not receiving voice messages too

My main issue is the times at which the SMS messages are delivered, and therefore the 'phone rings (currently from 7am), which I guess is the BT default. I could turn the 'phone sounder off but I'm not prepared to do that.

Who is sending you the text messages? Is it for example your bank? Have you entered your landline number in the mobile phone field on a form?

Alternatively do you have a mobile phone the messages could be delivered to instead? They would at least be readable then.

I know who sent some text messages, others I can't be sure so I'd like to prevent all.

Yes, I receive SMS text messages on my mobile. Thing is, I can't be sure how others (who send the text message to a landline) manage their communication facilities so it's possible some folk don't understand what they are doing with their devices and end up accidentally sending out these text messages to landlines - that's why I wish to stop them all.

I don't think I've ever entered my landline number instead of a requested mobile number on any forms.

I shall contact my telecoms provider today and see if they can disable the text-to-landline feature at their end.

    Thanks for your help.

Not sure why you keep referring to BT if a Now customer, any setting etc that you had with BT we’re nullified when you switched to a different network ( Now use Sky network not BT ) , there is no reason why Now will offer the same facilities, they may , but it’s not a given .

I've not been with BT for decades and I'm pretty sure this SMS-to-landline feature wasn't available back then. A few  years ago when I last got a spate of SMS-to-landline messages, I read up on this subject and changed the curfew times on the BT website (even though I wasn't a BT customer) but BT warn that these curfew times won't be recognised by some telecom providers.

I think all you need to do is dial 0800 587 5252 from the landline phone (make sure you have caller ID enabled), and follow the prompts.

Unfortunately, all one is able to do using this BT number is to change the curfew hours, which I have previously done and they have been retained by the system. However, BT warn that the user-set curfew times are not recognised by some other telecom providers and this appears to be my case with my provider, NOW TV/Broadband.
