Video of car being MOT'd

I always take my car to the dealership to be serviced, repaired and MOT'd and they video the MOT and text me a copy.  This year they found a fault and put it down as an advisory but because it was something that could get serious quickly I asked them to repair which they did but they are ignoring my request for the video evidence of the fault.  Also they didn't charge for the MOT just the repair.  I think I've been conned, any ideas what I should do next?  Thank you!

You authorised an optional repair which they've done and they've given you a free MoT but so far failed to send the usual video. Seems a strange 'con' to me! Wouldn't a con more likely involve finding a non-existent dangerous fault, 'repairing' it then charging for the MoT and retest?

Sounds to me like they've done the service and mot, found this other fault and repaired it, but somehow neglected to charge you for the actual mot. things like that do happen. in a busy enviroment things do get forgotten.
question- do you have a mot certificate?. if yes then you have a free mot.  if no then maybe thats because they didn't actually do the mot?.

Don't you just love those dinky wee videos that add £100 to the bill.

You could go back and say you forgot to charge me for the MOT. What was the advisory

Only if you approve the work.  I get my son to check over and repair cars before service / MoT time - I remember the gritted teeth and frustration as the tech did the video on my 7 year old / 80,000 mile Toyota last year and couldn't find a single issue  :D

If you want them to video things, ask them when you book it in. That way, if they say "No, sorry", you know to go elsewhere.

It's simply not generally a thing. Well, maybe some premium-brand main dealers.

Are you sure they are videoing the MOT?

DVSA require all MOT stations to provide viewing areas.
There are obviously some health and safety requirements, along with some others, like being able to see the whole test from the viewing area.

Some MOT stations find it hard to compile, so they are allowed to display the test, live on a fixed monitor in a waiting room.

It must not be recorded though, only live video allowed.

I suspect they are recording the car's service.
    Mine do this.
Originally it was photos, now the technician runs through a quick briefing of my vehicle pointing out all the major areas like brake wear, tyre wear and so on.
  • I’ve just moved and went to Stoneacre Peugeot to arrange my mot yesterday.
O my god what a joke.
First wait 15 mins to speak to a sales rep, I said I just want a mot, no service is already paid for via service contract.
Ok, mot will take 2.5 hours, that’s mot and visual inspection and video all over the car, ( we have to do this by law was her comment ).
I got up and walked out, as I left I said that has just cost you over a grand as I was going to get a service contract with you for the next 5 years, rang the next Peugeot dealer, 20 miles away, they booked me in and said I can wait as takes 45 mins to 1 hour.

The maximum you can be charged for an MOT is £55, there's no charge for the video.

They video it every year at no extra charge.  This time they're not responding to my requests for a copy and know they haven't charged for the MOT.  I suspect the advisory was a mistake and because they frightened the **** out of me to have it repaired they don't want me to know they made a mistake.
