Plug in solar

has it been confirmed plug in will get seg
Most supply companies won't give you SEG payments unless you can show that your solar panels were installed by an MCS accredited installer so I can't imagine plug-in solar alone will qualify. But if you already export and get SEG payments then your SEG-provider won't know if you add extra panels and I don't think you are under any obligation to tell them.

But your 8 panel suggestion, seems to have nothing to do with plug-n-play PV. So with a 'normal' 8 panel system you would be able to get paid for export.
And, if you have an EV, then it would be silly not to go on an EV cheap rate tariff.
Thus, as others have stated, you'd want to export the PV, and charge the EV from cheap rate.
Mart. Cardiff. 8.72 kWp PV systems (2.12 SSW 4.6 ESE & 2.0 WNW). 28kWh battery storage. Two A2A units for cleaner heating. Two BEV's for cleaner driving.

I am eyeing up the cottage roof but to be honest it would ruin the look for the property and whatever I install I want to easily take with me when we move. I will have to make do with a max of 5 panels on the shed roof not in the optimum orientation or angle but so be it.
Locally a farmer is selling 440w panels for £70 in Norfolk which seems a bargain with the current prices and high demand so I might just go and have a look over the weekend.
The two current panels are performing well but as was mentioned earlier April has been an exceptionally sunny month and not the norm.
Just frustrating my ecoflow microinverter to battery cable is taking so long but at least tracking says it's in the country now (not impressed with tradeinn.com over optimistic delivery date of today but reviews did warn me in advance if this issue with them)

Do you remember we discussed this last year?
8 panels is almost certainly too many for a plug-in system, so you're looking at a professional install which will get you MCS certification, SEG export tariff eligibility and potentially much better economics.

If you have room and live or can travel to Norfolk you can put yourself together a cheap plug in solar system.

At only 800 Watts from plug in Solar, would not be wasted as background house usage will not be far off?
Yes you could use any extra, but it would be as you stated super slow.

Then it will be quite tricky to calculate when it paid for itself.
Not really sure what's the best way to find out how much you've saved in a year. Some statistical comparison to previous years by usage etc.

Well, what a difference a day makes!!
1st May was still mainly sunny and the reported output was 3.97kWh.
But yesterday with patchy cloud it dropped to 2.27kWh.
And today with cloud and rain all day, a paltry 0.53kWh 😓
I guess that's the nature of solar generation!!4 -
And thats with near double the nominal "daylight hours" about 15 hrs typical in early May in south vs just sub 8 around the winter solstice with weaker solar power typical in Dec even on a sunny day
0.53 kWh over say 14 hrs - say average c40W / 5% panel nominal rating.
Even worse if were to average over 24 hrs to get a true daily average - the sort of reliable hour by hour delivery standard we hold other conventional generation like gas and nuclear to.

Bit of an update my ecoflow powerstream to Delta Max battery cable arrived from Spain.
It will feed 150wh into the house constantly to remove our base load.
Next up another two panels are on the cards
