Money Moral Dilemma: Should I keep the perks from my grandma's bank account?

  • I am appalled you have such low morals you need to even ask the question. She is your Grandma, she's put her trust in you - why would you want to steal from her? If you ask her she will almost certainly tell you to keep it anyway, she obviously trusts you to have given you the money in the first place so why are you betraying that trust by being so underhand and greedy?

As others on here have said the correct way to go about this is to have the account in her name and a power of attorney. Should anything happen to her it may seem handy to you to be able to simply keep the money in the account, as who is to say it is not yours? BUT if anything happens to you suddenly then she has no access to the money which is hers, no proof it is hers and no right to it at all - unless you've left it to her in your will, which i doubt???

how does she get her Pension paid???, sounds too Iffy to me, and illegal. The Government pay Pensions into an account, your Gran will be no different, so why have you an account in your name?? receiving cash from Gran?????perhaps you have Power of Attorney, but if your Gran is Corpus Mantas then this does not need to be activated---- giving you authority over her money. Has she other family ???do they all know the "arrangement" ???????

You can pick your pension up at the post office. You'd be surprised at how many people don't have a bank account. Similarly during covid with the energy rebates, councils had to pay money to the post office for those without bank accounts to collect in cash.
