£12 a month is a lot to pay unless you need an awful lot of data, have a look at smarty for a cost saving.
There are occasionally offers of a 24 month contract with one of discount phone sellers that have an total cost of very little more than you can buy the phone for elsewhere, worth hanging on for a few not if you need is not urgent.

How much data you are using?
£12 is expensive for SIMO if you are low user.

It looks like it's a question of checking a store physically. i.e. my local branch said early this morning that they had no one who could handle android change over until Saturday!
Saturday's not long off, I'd be inclined to wait and have it done at your local store.

  • You don't say who you are currently with but £8/mth will get you 30/40GB data with o2, 3 or Vodafone via USwitch

Worth a look, £8/mth, it will process as an upgrade when you get to the o2 site and say you're an existing customer so no sim-swapping or PAC codes. RPI +3.9% increase next April.

Plus if you get double data if you are a Virgin Media customer (and double home broadband speed) due to the Virgin/O2 merger so I get 60GB (which I never get anywhere close to) for £7.99 a month.

O2 will give you a better deal AND more data - I was paying £12 a month and now paying £7.99 a month for more data. Check on their website. It will lock you in for 12 months but that's OK with me
As for transferring your information and apps - a lot has changed since you last bought a 'phone. Your new 'phone will just ask if you want to transfer everything, connect to your old 'phone via Bluetooth, all done in a couple of minutes

Actually, the O2 website is the last place to go. You can get much better deals going through price comparison sites such as MSE, USwitch etc.
