You can certainly just ignore them & the series of £170 third party scum 'debt' threatograms for six months. It is a valid option.PRIVATE 'PCN'? DON'T PAY BUT DON'T IGNORE IT (except N.Ireland).

Who knows. ? Maybe nothing at all, maybe a Civil court claim in the post, its their decision, so either nothing or court
If the TOC issued a Penalty notice and followed it up, either the TOC would enforce it in lieu of magistrates court, under the bylaws, or they would issue a summons to magistrates court under bylaws and prosecute in mags court
So if this had been a TOC penalty notice like if it had been a Trans Pennine penalty notice, it would currently have probably been a summons to magistrates court within 6 months of the incident
Many TOCs recently cancelled the ones where they prosecuted the penalty notices themselves, it was in the news so have a good read
That is why we asked if it was a penalty notice or a private PCN, took a while with a few requests to get clarification
Yes it can be complicated, but you did ask, plus if it had been a hire or lease vehicle, it would have been even more complicated as regards the owner and registered keeper issues
My advice is deal with the present one as is, abd study simple cases first that don't involve railway land or airport land. ( Bylaws. ), some of these sagas can go over 100 pages over several months or years , especially at airports
Ps, there is no database in the UK that can give owners details !1 -
