Does Lebara mobile work in Canary Islands?

Anyone know if Lebara works in Fuerteventura? Seems some confusion over whether it’s classed as Spain or not! If so will be included in std roaming and can use like at home. Lebara agent not very helpful as to if it would work and connect to local network or not so just wondering if anyone has had any experience? Going in 2wks. Thanks

No confusion, Canaries are part of Spain, you will connect to and roam on Spanish networks.
    Evolution, not revolution
  • The Canaries has an autonomous special relationship within Spain, separate from the other regions.
It was split into 2 separate provinces from 1982 with capitals in Santa Cruz de Tenerife and Las Palmas - following on from a similar 19th century territorial division into various administrative provinces of Spain.
Here endeth the history lesson :)

The Canaries are a full and integral part of Spain and the EU is almost every aspect. One exception is that the VAT rate is lower there (7% vs 21% in the rest of Spain) so some things can be cheaper but this is often offset by higher costs on goods needing to be imported.

The Spanish Royal family have a holiday residence on the coast at Costa Teguise, Lanzarote - the US Ambassador likewise not so far away I believe.
A dirty job but somebody has to do it !!! B)

There are 4 separate rates of VAT in Spain, apart from the Canaries.
  • Lebara told me that if the sim connected it would be covered by the free roaming (as Canary Islands are part of Spain) BUT they also said they could not guarantee a connection as the Canary Islands do not have sufficient masts to cover the area. However, I'm off to Corralejo soon and suspect connection will be ok as it's a built up area.

You won't have any problems with connectivity in Corralejo or any other part of the island.
