Energy Co bungled bill, now large debt

The Energy Co has now sent me statements of account, one for the dual fuel account, one each for the separate electricity and gas accounts that they opened after they closed the dual fuel account.  The thing is I cannot figure out the basis of the initial receivables in the split accounts. They seem disconnected from the dual fuel account which does not have a running balance col.  anyway.
The gas account starts off with receivables of £2438.88 and the electricity account starts off with £1156.96.   Can anyone advise how I can find out what these amounts are based on - balance from the closed dual fuel account, meter readings or estimates?

I would expect the starting balance of the separate accounts, in total, should equal the closing balance of the old dual fuel account.

But it's difficult to be sure without knowing or seeing exactly what you're looking at.

Did you ever name the supplier? I can't see any reason not to do so, and people on here might have direct experience or inside knowledge.
