Thanks for the reply. How would I go about doing this? I've only ever dealt with payment issues with PayPal in eBay related cases - would it be a similar process?born_again said:

I am having the same issue with SD at the moment. I ordered 2 items costing £86 paid with CC. I returned the trainers £75 paying £4.99 for Evri postage as per SP portal and received email saying they had the parcel and would receive refund in 14 days. No refund so I contacted them
- Chat with them says there’s a note on the system says I’m not getting a refund as there’s an issue with item.
They email me transcripts which I reply to and after tons of emails they say they are returning the item back to me. A used smelly bath robe (fit for the bin) that I’ve never seen before or would fit me is returned to me. They claim I sent it to them.
We are going back and forth with emails and getting no where. They are accusing me of returning the above used item instead of the trainers and I know that I returned the trainers. A switch has certainly happened somewhere but they say that they’ve checked CCTV in their warehouse( I asked) and protocol was followed. I’ve said that they should then take it up with Evri ( they are telling me to) I know that this will be useless with Evri.
My last resort in claiming a chargeback which I know they have 45 days to dispute. I have never dealt with such a despicable company and will never buy from them again. Has anyone else had this issue and was charge back successful ?

Ask them for a copy of the CCTV first
I would bet that they will refuse to share it which will tell you everything you need to know

Yes. For example, one thing it will tell you is that SD are complying with the law.
You cannot legally demand to watch or receive CCTV footage of your goods being handled inside their premises. If the footage features other identifiable individuals (like the packer) and no images of you, you are not considered the "data subject". Under UK GDPR, SD must protect their staff privacy and cannot share the video.
If you had been present in the room, you could force them to show you a suitably edited video of yourself.
