If you walked into your bank branch and asked to speak urgently with the manager, I wonder who they would send you to? Probably a customer "service" assistant.
I remember speaking to an old friend of my mother's who was talking about the days when she and her husband were a young couple and starting to raise a family and finances were tight. This was the late 1950s. They lived in a small town in SW Scotland. One day the bank manager phoned summoning them both to the branch to see him as he had noted that their account has been perilously close to going into the red on several occasions over the previous few weeks. On attending the dreaded visit, the manger demanded that they hand over their cheque book to be retained by him while he monitored their spending. They were allowed a weekly cash withdrawal through the branch. No way of hiding from your branch manager in those days.1 -
My BoS branch is shown as the Head Office. Even though I live nowhere near there.I consider myself to be a male feminist. Is that allowed?0
