Our first UC payment is way off what we got on IS?
Yes, this does seem to simply be a case of the Transitional Element not having been calculated yet. I wouldn't be too concerned at this stage.
The figures seem to be fairly straightforward:
On IS you were getting: Personal Allowance: £142.25 Carer Premium: £45.60 Disability Premium (couple rate): £60.60 Enhanced Disability Premium (couple rate): £29.75 Total applicable amount: £278.20 Less Carer's Allowance: (£81.90) Net Income Support entitlement (weekly): £196.30
UC entitlement: Standard Allowance: £617.60 Housing Element: £478.04 Carer Element: £198.31 Maximum Amount: £1,293.95 Less Carer's Allowance (monthly equivalent): (£354.90) Net Universal Credit entitlement (monthly): £939.05
Difference: £1,328.68 - £939.05 = £389.63
So, you should get that amount added as a Transitional Element.
However, if your partner is assessed as having LCWRA, then they will add the LCWRA element of £416.19, but only from your fourth AP. That would then reduce your Transitional Element to nil.
It was just the 'first month' delays and confusion that we have come to expect then, particularly with migrations.
Of course while benefit forum regulars may have come to expect them, new claimants of UC usually don't have any idea what is going on and just see that they are being asked for 'stupid' things (eg. fit notes when they are not needed) and/or see that their UC hasn't been correctly calculated (yet).
