Buying phone for trade in

I am going to buy a Pixel 9 pro........ they are currently offering over £200 trade in.
Unfortunately I don't have one of the phones on the list of eligible devices. The terms say the phone has to be working with no cracked screen. I was thinking of buying a used phone on Ebay for about £25 and using that for the trade in.....
Am I being stupid as it seems a no brainer to do this?

Seems a good idea but as ever the devil is in the detail"Trade-in values vary based on condition, year, and configuration of your trade-in device"I would hope you would get more than £25 but you may not get £200
Things that are differerent: draw & drawer, brought & bought, loose & lose, dose & does, payed & paid1 -
It's the google Trade in Deal. So value of phone plus £200.
Thinking of a Nokia 1 or 3 phone - value about £25 but they give the £200 bonus to try and persuade you to buy a new Pixel....0 -
Pixel 9 pro is overpriced in the first place by more then £2000

Have been stories of the trade-in "partner" that Google use being less than co-operative when things go wrong or missing. Check the T&C's, when a similar Samsung deal goes south they reserve the right to brick your new phone.2 -
Pixel tends to be cheaper with 24 months contract deal.
e.g. idmobile 500GB data with 256GB pixel 9 pro. Total cost approx £970 over 2 years (£179 upfront + £30 p.m.)
vodafone 300GB data total cost approx £980 over 2 years (mobiles.co.uk, £310 upfront + £26 p.m.)2 -

It’s normal to have an opinion even if you haven’t seen it.Much press has mentioned the inflated price. You’ve decided to buy it and can’t even have seen it.2 -
Pixel is a great phone. I will always stay with Google because of the "hold for me" feature which means I don't have to listen to hold music anymore. I just get a gentle ring when it's time to pick the phone up again as someone has answered ♥️
I keep eyeing up the pixel 9 fold, but I can't bring myself to spend so much on a phone 😅2
