I recently received a letter from Hampshire police informing me that my vehicle was not on this. There was no mention of any possibility of charges, it was just a "friendly Poke" to look into my insurance situation.
I paid LV money in May for insurance and received an email stating I was insured from May 2024 to May 2025. I have checked the date and vehicle reg several times and they are correct.
So I contacted LV about this and they said there was a "technical glitch with the MID website" and due to an error my car had not been put on it. They said this would be shortly rectified (and it has).
My problem is for 3 month I wasn't on it and has their been an incident this would have caused stress at the least and potentially hampered any claim. I am also not happy at receiving a letter from the police where I have done absolutely nothing wrong.
My insurance company have been remiss and I feel I am owed some recompense here. What is my best way of going about this?
TIA

It wouldn't have hampered a claim. LV knew you were covered.1

I would have suspected this to be a scam if the letter has actually said Motor Insurance Database.
There is no such thing.
It's the Motor Insurers Database.
Did this 'friendly poke' suggest that you need to pay anything to anyone?1 -
You can’t be due recompense for something which has not impacted you.You haven’t suffered any ill effects.0

Its unusual its the police sending the letter though, normally the DVLA send the letters automatically.bertiewill said:My problem is for 3 month I wasn't on it and has their been an incident this would have caused stress at the least and potentially hampered any claim. You can only claim for what did happen not what might of happened. You've only just found out and weren't stressing for 3 months about it. So, what financial loss have you suffered? Assuming its nothing and your "stress" was at most for a couple of hours before you could call LV for an explanation then complain if you want to and they may give you a £25 go away money to close the matter off.0 -

You were covered, they made a mistake, they rectified it. At no point were you uninsured and if you were stopped, a quick call to the insurance would have shown you were fine.Sam Vimes' Boots Theory of Socioeconomic Unfairness:
People are rich because they spend less money. A poor man buys $10 boots that last a season or two before he's walking in wet shoes and has to buy another pair. A rich man buys $50 boots that are made better and give him 10 years of dry feet. The poor man has spent $100 over those 10 years and still has wet feet.

It would be fair if the OP received an "admin fee" for the cost of the 'phonecall and the amount of time that they spent on hold- which could be considerable......
I want to go back to The Olden Days, when every single thing that I can think of was better.....

It's definitely worth a complaint, but not stressing about. You might get some compensation for the inconvenience if you're lucky.0

There was a fault recently where the MID site was down, I can't remember when but it limited access and checks for insurers for a while so could be your insurer wasn't able to send it across.0

Fair enough guys. Thanks for your comments.
I'll put in a complaint. Anyone got the correct email for LV? I have had trouble finding it online. I don't have any great hopes for compensation but feel I might get a modest sum.
Interesting that the MID was down, I thought that may be BS.0
