    @iniltous - again, thank you!
    I've just run a test and my current download speed is 12mbps, and seems to support all I need currently.

    If you are getting 12Mb from Sky you are probably not on FTTC , but ADSL , ( on FTTC you woukd be getting 50-70Mb  ) so changing to a different ISP on ADSL will also provide 12Mb , and the stuff about freeing up a FTTC port was assuming you had Sky FTTC .

    @iniltous Apologies, yes I think I am indeed on ADSL with Sky!
    Does that limit my options and mean I am stuck with Sky even though they keep increasing my bills?!
    Can I keep checking for a FTTC port to become free then move ISP?

    Some providers may not offer ADSL , but some will , use a comparison site and look for providers offering ADSL , probably advertised as ‘upto 17Mb’ as that’s the average speed they are required to use in adverts,
    A quick search found direct save telecom offering ADSL , I’m not recommending them , I know nothing about them , but they obviously still offer ADSL , I dare say others will also offer ADSL as well
