dcb legal letter, threating court action, parking fine related to euro car parks.

I arrived at a Euro Car Park in Sheffield around 9 a.m. with the intention of parking, but the car park was full. With no available spaces and facing torrential rain and dark skies, I chose to wait in my car for several minutes, hoping a spot would open up while I took shelter from the severe weather.
When a parking space finally became available, I parked and headed to the payment machine. Unfortunately, the rain was so heavy that my credit card became soaked, and the machine wouldn’t accept it. Despite several attempts, the machine continued to reject my card.
The dark skies and heavy rain made it impossible to read any of the signs. I returned to my car and waited for the weather to improve, but the rain didn’t subside. I finally attempted to pay, but the machine still wouldn’t accept my card. As a result, I decided to leave the car park and find another place to park.
Shortly after I visited the Euro Car Park, I received a parking fine. My appeal was disregarded, and since then, I have ignored all legal threats from various debt collectors. However, I recently received a payment demand from DCB Legal, threatening to take me to court if I don’t pay the £170 fine. I was advised to respond and explain my situation, but I’ve now received a final notice stating that they will move forward with court action if the fine isn’t paid within the next 30 days.
I requested the calibration certificate for the cameras that captured the images of my car, but they responded that my request was unreasonable and refused to provide it. However, they did send additional photos of my car with date and time stamps—details that were not included when Euro Car Parks issued the original fine.
Could someone please advise if this is likely just another scare tactic or if it might go to court? What are my chances of success given my situation, and how should I prepare if it does proceed to court? I firmly believe the parking fine is unfair because of no initial parking spaces and the heavy rain prevented me from paying or parking properly.
I would greatly appreciate any assistance or advice anyone can offer.

Sounds like you received a Letter of Claim. You need to read the second post in the Newbies/FAQ thread to understand where you're at and how to proceed. All the answers are in there.2

Over eighteen months ago it was suggested on your earlier thread about this incident that you should be reading the NEWBIES thread.
You have now started a second thread about the same incident.
The NEWBIES thread is one of the first half dozen or so threads on the first page of the Parking Board.2 -
Hi Keith, you are correct, but assumed it had all gone away but received a further debt collector letter, so the saga continues.
Rather than rant abuse during these concerning times, please don't add to the stress. I asked for advice, not an argument.
I'm elderly and not very good at working with computers or searching this site for info.
I would appreciate any advice, but truly do not want an argument.

The good news is that DCB Legal are 'hearing-shy' and - in our experience - rely on frightening and intimidating people into paying inflated charges. They are not hoping to come across defendants who defend!
When people here defend a court claim, DCB Legal discontinue months later. Your scam will be over in 2025 without paying a penny.
But to learn how to defend when the claim form arrives, and to read the NEWBIES thread second post about how to reply to this LBC, you do need to know how to navigate the forum easily without asking others for links.
The NEWBIES thread can be reached in a second. Two clicks! See my signature. Once you know that it's easy!
And by the way I'm retired and KeithP is older than me I believe so we aren't youngsters ourselves. But using forums is easy once you know how to click back to page one (like turning the oages of a book).
PRIVATE 'PCN'? DON'T PAY BUT DON'T IGNORE IT (except N.Ireland).

"However, I recently received a payment demand from DCB Legal, threatening to take me to court if I don’t pay the £170 fine".You need to keep everything down to facts no letter you have received has the word "fine" on it, and the charge they are trying to extract is not £170 it was £100, the extra £70 is from the debt collection muppets trying it on.3

DCBL are considered a joke with their ridiculous scare tactics and even more their ridiculous claims,
It's just modern day thuggery and DCBL is one so called legal that you play a game with and let them waste their time with threats, special offers which you IGNORE ?
If they do issue a court claim, it's nothing to worry about as judges class these timewasting claims as a regime. DCBL ARE UK FAMOUS for timewasting of the courts and ending up with a discontinuation
PLAY THE GAME because they think you are a mug .. you are not ..... do not let money thugs stress you out ... that.s what they want

Thank you for the kind responses and apologise if I offended anyone and appreciate the advice and help provided. I today received a Claim form from (Court) Civil National Business Centre so can assume I will end up in court to try and fight my case against these disgusting rip-off people. The claim has now risen from £170 to £281 and the letter states the costs could even go higher if I lose the case. How can these low-life increase the amount from a 90p parking fee to £281. I will look through the newbie section and try and find any helpful info. Thanks again.0
