Your figures are a little off , BT Digital Voice ( regular cordless phone , base station plugged into the broadband router ) as an example charge £3 ( official price £5 but discounted to £2 or £3 , I pay £3 ) and I pay £30 for 80Mb FTTC broadband, so £33 in total , but any outgoing calls would cost 16p a minute ( or whatever ) I don’t use it for outgoing just for the odd incoming call ( doctors , relatives that still have the landline number etc ) so the actual price per minute is irrelevant, I use my mobile for outgoing calls , cellular or WiFi calling makes no difference.

It used to be the way that you paid for the landline and then the internet was discounted across it.

If I look at Plusnet as an example, their 2 year deal for 80mb Broadband only on an FTTC SOA connection is £25.99 and it you also want a phone line (without call package) it is £26.99

The current deal for a standard phone line and 80mb FTTC broadband connection (not SOA) for 2 years is guess what, £26.99

I assume the £40 is because you have a call package as well.

Hi, sorry, my figures of £30 and £40 are purely off the top of my head, I haven't got any information about actual contracts yet - just giving an example of ballpark figures I'd assume a service provider would charge for net only/net+dial tone

There are lots of abbreviations I wasn't necessarily aware of, no doubt they'll be useful for me to look up when I'm looking to start a contract

this exactly. call me luddite, but proper buttons that do the same function so you can pretty much use them with your eyes closed (this is from my nokia 3310 days, in the pub with vision less than ideal), no screens that change their function every few seconds (or decide to go black), no mis-swipes or 'where's the keypad?' or 'did I accidentally press the screen' or hows-the-battery. that turned into a rant :)

    this sort of thing https://www.amazon.co.uk/BT-Advanced-Blocker-Certified-Refurbished/dp/B01H40NN0W/

Yes, my "mobile phone" is my bank, my camera, my TV/washing machine/dishwasher remote control, central heating controller etc etc etc. The one thing I don't seem to do with it is "phone calls"  :D !!

My (Zen) Internet costs: 110mb/s FTTP £35/month (I know, I could get it cheaper...), Digital Voice with 1000 mins (16+ hours) outgoing talk per month £6.
