Delay flights rights

I needed to fly to Ireland for a private doctor appointment. Take off is at 10 land at 11 which leaves 3 hours to get my appointment which is only 20 mins away pent of time.
However my flight yesterday was delayed 2 hours 50 mins and only took off at 1309 landed about 1425.
This also made my return flight the same day useless too.
We waited a long as we could but when it came apparent we had no chance of making that appointment we left. We even called the clinic and rearranged as late as possible but we still could not make it.
Are we entitled to any compensation? Technically it was delays 2 hours 55 mins.

No, you're only entitled to compensation for delays (arriving over three hours late) if you actually travel on the flight - you might have been able to negotiate something with onsite airline staff at the time but don't believe you'd have any actual rights after the event if you effectively chose not to travel.0

From info online, they actually made up time flying there but took 40 mins to taxi to a gate.

Ryanair we're probably happy we left, I overheard the staff say the flight was overbooked.0 -
