Mediation Call - mandatory

I've had a new parking fine which I am defending. I have been through this process previously (successfully), with all the help from this forum. However, on this occasion I am being told that a mediation call is mandatory, even though I opted-out of this as part of my submission. Apparently, this is because of a change in rules. Does anyone have any experience of this and advise on how I should handle this.
Thanks in advance

Search for mediation compulsory. Nothing new for claims issued after 22nd May 2024.3

Plenty of recent posts about the change, especially in the last few weeks, , search and read
5 minutes phone call, offer £zero, no compromise3 -
I found this in one of the posts. Is this how the call goes?
Mediator: - "cds1234 - how much do you want to pay?"
cds1234 - "£ZERO"
Mediator: - "claimant, how much will you accept?"
Claimant: - "£FULL"
End of mediation!
I am trying to prepare for the call.2 -

I am trying to prepare for the call.
The mediator will speak to the Claimant first, and ask them to summarise their case.
He/she will then speak to you, telling you what the Claimant said, and ask you to summarise your Defence. They will then ask if you are prepared to offer a sum in settlement, and if you answer 'zero', that will end the mediation.
Mediation can be useful in cases where it is agreed that some payment is due, and there is a dispute over the amount. But in parking cases, where the positions of the parties are binary, it's almost always a complete waste of time.
I have been providing assistance, including Lay Representation at Court hearings (current score: won 57, lost 14), to defendants in parking cases for over 5 years. I have an LLB (Hons) degree, and have a Graduate Diploma in Civil Litigation from CILEx. However, any advice given on these forums by me is NOT formal legal advice, and I accept no liability for its accuracy.8 -
What level of detail do I need to go into when I planning my defence? Will they question this or pass any judgments on this?
I plan to offer zero for case settlement.0 -

The only compulsory bit is that you take the phone call and have therefore "attended". A waste of time, but there you go.2 -
Mediators are not legally trained. It is nothing, just a complete waste of 5 minutes (but compulsory to avoid sanctions/costs against you even if you win).PRIVATE 'PCN'? DON'T PAY BUT DON'T IGNORE IT (except N.Ireland).

So how much would you be asking the parking company, and/or the landowner to pay you for wasting your time with their ridiculous demands?

All you need is a summary of the main points of it.
