But poppies won't last for flower arranging. Nice to have though and no attention, once scattered they come on forever. There are purple leaf shrubs that aren't too big. Prunus does well, dark red/purple that would be dramatic with Crocosmia Lucifer that Farway mentioned. With some white could be good.........I wonder if some of the Shaster Daisies would be ok in a pot?And there are all colours of Snap Dragon or the big coloured daisies whose name I can't spellI also saw some cheaper versions of the drip watering systems in local diy shops. If someone (or you) could set one up for your pots that would help.I have a large mop bucket outside my back door and use the big plastic mixing jugs to fill with spare water from running hot tap, left in kettle, hot water bottle etc and tip it into the bucket till it's half full then use the light jugs to scoop and chuck on pots. Surprising how much there is wasted in a kitchen.
I can rise and shine - just not at the same time!

Floral competitions in August? What about Heleniums? Easy to grow, return every year, and you can split 'em and make as many as you need as the years go by. Good bee plant too. What's not to love?
