PUK code

Hello

I was mucking around with my phone settings and now need to get a PUK code to unlock the SIM. I did this years ago but it was easy to get the PUK from my then provider. I'm now with RWG and it's a case of waiting for them to get back to me.....could be some time! My question is will the SIM work if I get another cheap unlocked mobile phone. I doubt it, but thought I'd ask. I need a back up phone anyway.

It's only when you can't use your phone that you realise how much you need it for banking, etc.

Many thanks.

It's the SIM that is locked, not your phone.

Your phone should work fine with a 'live' SIM. If you put your blocked SIM into a friend's phone it will not work, but their SIM should work OK in your phone.

if you enjoy 'mucking around' aimlessly with your phone which you actually depend on, you don't need another phone, but you might need another SIM to do your mucking about with.

SIMs are much cheaper than phones.

RWG SIMs used to come with the PUK supplied. I'm not sure if that is the case now.

If you have the original packing that the SIM came in you might be lucky.

  • Sorry, related hijack of thread.

If I have a SIM lock code that I enter wrongly, locking the SIM, does the PUK code negate the SIM lock or would that still be needed (I hope so!)?

    Thanks for the helpful replies.

Unfortunately, I didn't keep the packaging but you're right the PUK would have been on it.

When you successfully enter the 10 digit PUK code the phone responds by asking you to set a new SIM PIN and then to confirm it again. The new PIN is then used. There is no reference to the original failed PIN.
