polaroid p32rdp2031a will it work just connected to internet?

A friend has a polaroid p32rdp2031a smart tv connected to a Humax freesat receiver and sat dish but the Humax does not have internet connectivity.

She also does not have an aerial so cannot get freeview or catchup tv etc.

If she connects her TV  to the internet will she be able to watch freeview catch up on her TV even without an aerial?

She just got the internet for her son and the modem sits behind the TV so easy to plug in an ethernet cable which she does not have yet.

The smart functions ought to work without having an aerial attached.   It should be possible to connect wirelessly to the router, so an Ethernet cable may not be required.

Using an ethernet cable would be the better option though.  Live TV will not be available via the Freeview TV guide but some of the attached apps offer live streaming options - ITVX, My5, iPlayer and others.
