ES Water taking the P

So here in Essex, this month we've gone from having two separate bills for water (ES for water in, Anglian for waste) to just one, ES to cover both. That should all seem a fairly standard changeover as it's all metered so we have accurate usage figures, right? Nope. It looks like ES want to almost double customers combined DDs.

Ours combined was £25 per month and ES now want £42. Not to mention our Anglian account closed in credit with what amounts to almost 2 months of payments refunded to us. I did call them up and had the DD reduced by a small amount but it's still £11 too high. I'm seeing on Reddit that we're at the lower end of the scale as regards amounts charged so some people will be very unhappy and possibly be feeling under pressure.

Any of my Essex neighbours in here want to vent?
I think there needs to be a bit of fuss kicked up about this.

    Why make this a problem?

Submit manual monthly reads to Essex and Suffolk Water and they should bill you correctly, and will likely update the forecast annual consumption/bill and also DD amount.

If E&S are anything like Anglian (who I'm with for both) they will set the DD amount to collect the forecast annual bill amount by the time they take a meter reading and bill me for the past year.  Then do a new forecast and DD calculation.
