Would I be able to reclaim (AOL)?

I have today managed to cancel my partner's AOL subscription that he has been paying (but not using as we now live together) for just short of 3 years.
I appreciate that it is our fault for not having cancelled it sooner, however when I phoned AOL today, they advised me that their system showed that the service had not been used/accessed since 2005.
So, given that we have not used the service and they have verified this, would we have valid grounds to reclaim the money we have paid out. How would we go about making a claim.

Its the users responsibility to let the ISP know that they're not using the service & to cancel it.
Personally i don't think you have a leg to stand on with it, its up to the end user whether they use the service or not - not the ISP0 -
Yeah, that's fine... I did state in my OP that "I appreciate it is our fault for not having cancelled it".0

Not a chance in hell.....
AOL provided you with the service, you just didn't use it. As an analogy if you pay your local gym a monthly subscription but didn't go do you think they would give you a refund?0
