Multiple ISA’s

Options

As long as I stay within my 20k limit for this tax year, can I open a Virgin cash isa and a Kent Reliance cash isa and pay into my S&S isa with iweb.

I choose the rooms that I live in with care,
The windows are small and the walls almost bare,
There's only one bed and there's only one prayer;
I listen all night for your step on the stair.

  • yes but, no but..... Kent Reliance will want you to confirm that you have not already and that you will not in future (this tax year) ..open another ISA with anyone else !

    Unless they have recently changed it, the customer declaration says...
    "I have not subscribed, and will not subscribe, to another cash ISA in the same tax year that I subscribe to this cash ISA"

    Well that's a bit crap when you consider all the so called new freedoms with ISA's. Question, how would they know.

    From a tax perspective the customer answers only to HMRC. If providers refuse to acknowledge or accommodate the new ISA rules, conventional wisdom around here is to agree to such declarations while also ignoring them.

    The OP isn't going to be opening a cash ISA with anyone else so can safely ignore that anyway (they can still ignore it even if they are opening a cash ISA but S&S ISA isn't covered)
    Remember the saying: if it looks too good to be true it almost certainly is.

    Please re read my post, I'm looking at opening 2 cash ISA's one with kent R and one with virgin and possibly, 'not sure yet' top up my S&S ISA all within my 20k allowance.

    They would not.
    To be fair they are not the only one saying the same thing. The reasons are not totally clear AFAIK.
