Petrol or diesel?
mines Petrol, 6 years old & does 4k / year.My service schedule says 15k or annually whichever comes sooner…. But I’m quite happy to change what looks like very clean oil every 2 years.Diesel would turn black after 6 months…It’s up to you.0 -
its petrol 1.5, schedule says change every 2yrs which would be next year, probably leave it, if ford garage isnt doing it on a service then it musnt need doing, but 2 years for a oil change? must be like crap when it comes out
oil life on car management display is 53%0 -
If it's a wet belt engine (ecoboost), I'd be tempted to do an oil change annually just for peace of mind3
-
Two year service intervals and "long life oil" benefits only the manufacturers and lease companies.
Oil has a lot of work to do in your engine, it lubricates, cleans, seals and cools your engine. It's cheap enough to change, I've done it annually on every car I've owned for the last 50 years of driving.

It's also worth noting a low mileage, short tripped car will have to deal with a lot of condensation inside the engine which it just can't deal with.
Repeated warming and cooling without extended high temp runs tends to create more condensation inside your engine.
So even though the oil looks "clean" it's worth changing it regularly on a low mileage car.
As it appears to be a Ford Ecoboost with the previously mentioned wet belt, I would change it every year no matter what.
I'd also make sure I used the exact grade which matched or exceeded Fords Ecoboost oil specification.
You should find this spec in the handbook, it will look something like WSS-M*****-*.

I have tried to instill in my children (regardless of how skint they feel) if you do nothing else change the oil every year.1

My car is diesel, I only do 2.5 - 3k a year.
Eight years old in September and just over 24k on the clock.
I get a main dealer service every year to keep up the extended warranty.
At £15 a month for the contract it’s not too bad.
If you do nothing else an oil and filter is a must.0 -
If you continue to use Ford you should get free breakdown cover for a year till the car is 10 years old.1
-
It's a 1.5. Neither three or four cylinder are wet belt, only 1.0.1
-
I don't believe you will notice a skipped oil change, but you may want to sell the car in a year or two, in which case stick to recommended service intervals, Ford sounds better if it includes extras such as free breakdown.Toyota has a similar warranty which is great.0
