Delay compensation

Easyjet are trying to fob us off with a delayed flight claim due to 'air traffic control issues'. Our plane was delayed on an earlier flight because of this or so we were told however this wasn't directly impacting our flight. Other passengers have received compensation, should I continue pursuing this?

Air Traffic Control delays (not helped by a higher than average occurrence of bad weather) are very common this summer and are playing havoc with airline schedules. Generally airlines don't have to pay compensation if ATC restrictions are the root cause of the delay.
However if you're certain other passengers on the same flight have received compensation you should perhaps present this to easyjet.0 -
we have said this but get the response they can't discuss other cases for privacy reasons which seems a cop out0

Unless it's following a judgement in the Court of Appeals, easyJet paying compensation to some passengers doesn't set a precedent for others to rely on.
If 3 or more hours of the delay were under their control, then you can take them to the County Court to claim the money, assuming easyJet UK operated your flight.
ATC restrictions are out of scope however. If EasyJet can prove they took all reasonable measures to ensure the flight was on time, they won't be found liable for extra compensation0
