Avoid Lebara

  • Thanks. I now have a PAC code. Really don’t want to go back to my previous provider three as I left because I was unable to access my account because of email address issues and would have to contract for another year. My phone number originated from O2 several years ago. Would I be safe to go back to them?

That’s what I would do, it makes a complete reset of every port instruction that you might have on the number. You could even move on again elsewhere once you’ve ported to them.

Oh wow, I'm surprised to hear this. We've had multiple Sims from Lebara over the years and I find them great. Customer service is good and the phone quality is much better than other providers that we've used. Their Trustpilot reviews are excellent. It sounds like you've been unlucky.

I’ve been using Lebara for the past few years for family and friends. Whenever a cheap £1 deal comes up i port out then back in again on the cheap deal Lebara sim.

Works great most of the time  but recently have had no end of issues with porting.

    - issues activating the new Lebara sim and then it doesn’t default to the cheap £1 or whatever deal I signed up on. Customer service are useless and takes contacting them every month to get refund from full non offer price . Too much hassles

    - delays porting number in. You have to contact CS chat if you want port done next day . If you use the online form it’s two working days.

    - texting PAC to Lebara doesn’t generate a PAC code and you have to contact CS chat

This and other factors made me think twice . Is it worth a few quid saving ? Just this week I moved to smarty but Three reception here seems to be really bad so I may move to Talk Mobile which also uses Vodafone

the Lebara £1 offers are tempting but in my opinion not worth the hassle if you want to keep your number

Recently switched from AsdaMobile to Lebara. Both piggyback off Vodafone and, in my recent experience, the call centre staft ranged from reasonably competent to downright useless :)

I've been with Lebara for about 4 years, but today I'm leaving them for good because of the problems I've had with roaming and the poor customer service. The first year that I was with them, I took the phone fo Vienna. I took it for granted that the phone would roam. I'd never had one that didn't. I discovered that my phone wasn't roaming when I got lost and could not use the Map app. The result was that I became badly dehydrated, walking further than planned on a hot day and I had an attack of gout.
At least, on that occasion, the technician from lebaro support was able to fix the problem, but only after my holiday had been ruined.
I've just returned from a holiday in France. Yet again roaming did not kick in automatically. In fact it never kicked in at all. The technician was useless. She wanted me to go to settings, to alter a setting called 'data' something or other. It was a setting that simply did not exist on my i-Phone 14. She then blamed my pronunciation of 'data' (you say data, but I say data). At least that was funny, but she then asked if I 'had someone with me'
That was the second time I have been asked that question. The first time, it was an idiot electrician, who could not grasp the fact that when a form said 'supplier to sign here', it meant him. I am 72 and physically disabled, but I am not ga-ga. Sorry Lebara, but I'm calling the whole thing off.

There is a very good "off line" map app that is free, it is called Organic Maps (by the same programmer as Maps.me which is now very limited unless you pay). You can download a map (or a lot of maps) before venturing out, it makes a pretty good "sat nav" when walking around an area you are not familiar with. You can also mark where you are staying, where your car is parked, etc. In some areas the maps are incredibly detailed, some parts of Spain include the outline of villas, their pools and even individual trees (just a dot).
