Received Cheque from Black Horse, is this for DCA or something unrelated?

Hi guys,

I wrote to Black Horse using the MSE DCA reclaim tool about 6 months ago. I've only been getting acknowledgment emails from them every month or so.

But out of nowhere, I've received a letter with a cheque for £269.91 from them. I can't work out if this is for my DCA enquiry or for something totally unrelated?

I've attached images below of the letter and calculations of the £269.91 figure:

Should I cash the cheque or will this close my DCA case? I was expecting a higher pay out but perhaps this is it?

Thanks!

DCA has nothing to do with interest payments.
As well as letter clearly states why you have a refund, within the 1st paragraph 🤦‍♀️

As an aside from the post above, I don't know why you were "expecting a higher pay out"? FCA haven't even ruled there was any wrong doing, let alone if anyone is due any compensation or not

Sam Vimes' Boots Theory of Socioeconomic Unfairness:

People are rich because they spend less money. A poor man buys $10 boots that last a season or two before he's walking in wet shoes and has to buy another pair. A rich man buys $50 boots that are made better and give him 10 years of dry feet. The poor man has spent $100 over those 10 years and still has wet feet.

The letter appears to be self explanatory. A miscalculation during the Covid Pandemic period.
  • This is not DCA related - they just mis-caulcated the interest on your motor finance extension, most probably not including a pending payment as part of the recalculation.

Due to the extension its unlikely anyone will get a DCA compensation cheque for another 16-18 months at the earliest
