Parking fine

Hi everyone
Just needing a bit of advice.
We live in Scotland.
About a year ago I got a parking fine for stopping in a Tesco car park.
I looked online and everyone advice was to ignore.
Now they have upped the fine to £170.
They are threatening all sorts. Bailiffs blacklisted more fines etc..
I'm in a bit of a panic.
I'm disabled and type 1 diabetic and on the day I did stop in the drop off area of the Tesco as I was feeling like I was going to have a hypo. My husband went into the Tesco to get me a snack.
I never got out of the car or turned off my engine.
The length of time we were there was about 8mins.
As I said I have ignored these letters after following advice online.
Is there anything I can do now, will they keep increasing the money etc?
Any help would be great.
Thanx

If you read the newbees thread you will see you don't need to do anything until you get a court letter - I think that as you are in scotland as long as you don't reveal the driver they can't hold the keeper responsible and it will go away.
someone will be along shortly to confirm.3 -
Does the letter say fine or penalty anywhere?
Was this a council car park, if it was it may well say penalty charge, if a Tesco car park it shouldn't say fine or penalty.
Where did you see the advice to ignore? If you can't post links shorten them
Without trying to name the driver, that is never used terms like I, he, she, husband, wife, mother ,father sister etc please provide a little more info
Name of parking company, if it's on private non council land (parking charge notice)or local council if a council car park (penalty charge notice)
Reason parking charge, or penalty if council car park was issued?
There is a very important distinction between a council car park and private, between fine, and parking charge notice, penalty charge notice etcFrom the Plain Language Commission:

Where does the letter say the word fine2

If its from debt collectors. ( Especially in England or Wales locations. ) Ignore those letters, worthless pieces of paper, debt collectors are powerless
If the letters are regarding the simple procedures justice system in Scotland only, typically from the Sheriffs office, DO NOT IGNORE, so do not ignore official letters but ignore the spamming debt collectors letters, read the thread below and the links

It times out after 5 years so at the moment we are getting a lot of these questions about Scotland
Scotland advice may change next year, but that all depends on YOUR devolved government and any future decisions by them1 -
As above, it's not a fine, it's a speculative invoice, it hasn't increased to £170 some other chancers have added £70 debt collection costs that they now allege you owe them on top of the alleged debt.No Bailiffs will call, read the letter carefully it's all worded with ifs, threats and mays and nowhere does it say fine.So long as you don't name the driver it will go nowhere, taking court action in Scotland at the moment is a no hoper for these idiots, and you don't have a debt unless it's proven in court so debt collectors can't do anything.Who is the private parking company out of interest?2

Debt collector letter with the fake £70 charge added , read the light blue box near the bottom, plus it gave 14 days
Ignore it1 -
Yep, lovely. Ignore entirely.
Yes - that means ignore these letters.

Scotland parking law change 2025
Good to be informed. Things are changing in future but not for this nothing of a PCN. Read the search results to understand the changes.
PRIVATE 'PCN'? DON'T PAY BUT DON'T IGNORE IT (except N.Ireland).

It is not a fine.
It's from powerless debt collectors and can safely be ignored anywhere in the UK. It makes good hamster bedding if shredded, or poor quality bog paper if used as is, although you risk blocking the sewer if you try flushing it where it really belongs.
Plan A is always a complaint from the keeper to the landowner, or the store manager/CEO, without identifying the driver.
In Scotland, Plan B is to ignore at the moment. This will change, probably next year, when keeper liability is introduced into Scotland thanks to your former Dear Leader deciding to import a law from south of the border allowing someone who was not in the vehicle at the time, yet banging on about wanting independence.I married my cousin.
