No direct supply to my house.

With Thames water, my water supply comes from my neighbours bathroom then through the wall and into my house, can this be correct?

  • Do you receive a water bill addressed to your property?   Do I have a stopcock to turn off the supply?

This is common in older flats/houses; which is why it is not possible to install a meter in some properties.

We’re in a terraced house c1900 and have a shared supply with the neighbour with the main stopcock outside in the pavement. It was empty for a long while between lettings and at one point the owner had people in to tosh it up. They went off and had turned off a stopcock indoors which we didn’t know existed until we ran out of water 🙁 Managed to contact owner and when ‘toshers’ came back they moved stopcock to enable that house to be isolated.
Can’t have water meter and so we’re on ? unmeasured charge which suits us

Are you on 'unmeasured charges' (ie based on Rateable Value) or Assessed Charges? The latter can sometimes be cheaper.

It’s the latter - when I posted I couldn’t remember the exact term for it. Thank you
