High travel insurance amendment quote for broken bone

Hi, I hope someone can offer me advice.
I took out family annual travel insurance in May, with a holiday booked for August. I broke my wrist 4 weeks ago. When I first called the insurer they said I'd have to pay an additional £124 because the injury was less that 3 weeks old at the time I made the call. I said I'd call back when the break was older than 3 weeks. Today they said I have to pay £94. The injury will be 5 weeks old when I travel. I said this was too high and asked for cover for the injury to be excluded from the policy and planned to take a separate single trip cover insurance for it. I was told I couldn't do this. I asked for my name to be removed from the policy and to keep it for the rest of the family, then I could take out an individual policy, but they said I couldn't do that either. It's pay it or have no cover. I had had a quote for good individual annual trip cover for £40 or single trip for £18 (both inclusive of the injury) so don't want to pay £94.
Please help!

If you have had a quote elsewhere that covers it, you might be best just going for that.

Some won't even cover fractures, or require a few months to pass, as there is a risk that you could do it more damage by travelling before it is fully healed.

Editing a currency policy sometimes has a fee, so there is a possibility that they are including a fee for alteration, which would be in the terms of your policy.

You could try getting a few quotes on different sites.

I'm assuming the OP was the person who took out the policy.  If that is the case it's understandable that they won't simply remove him/her.  Doing so would mean the entire policy is no longer valid.
With the prices you have quoted it may be cheaper simply to get a new policy elsewhere and write off the cost of the original.

    Thanks.
My partner is the lead person on the family policy.
If I don't pay the charge they are asking they will cancel the policy for the whole family and I will have to get new insurance for us all. The person i spoke to on the phone implied we would lose the money, but I've checked the policy and think we would have to be refunded the remainder of the year.

When I broke a bone, my annual travel insurance policy said that I would only need to pay extra to cover holidays that weren’t already booked. Anything already booked was covered without an extra premium.

Spoke to a different person today. I can have my part of the policy cancelled and the remainder of it refunded. The rest of the family can stay on the policy. This is one of the things I asked for yesterday and was told no😡. They are lucky I can't type very well in this cast or I'd be straight into the complaints section😆.
