You really need to bring forward your phone purchase as you are running on one that has not had security updates for over 2 years. The network isn't the issue.Shelle said:Oh well, guess I need to find a new provider with a rolling contract to match what I had.
I hope you don't run any sensitive apps on that phone, especially any financial ones.0 -
For those with older devices both EE and Vodafone still have an active 2G service which would be used for calls and texts unlike Three which doesn't have a 2G service to fall back to.PHK said:I should point out that Vodafone and EE have already switched off their 3G so if the phone doesn’t have the VoLTE update then it won’t work on them or their MVNOs.

EE have set it so calls won’t drop from 4G to 2G
Vodafone and EE (and O2 from 2025 ) are reducing the 2G bandwidth for calls to redeploy for 4G. Consequently, they are migrating customers from 2G. 2G will be used for M2M, IoT and smart meters.1 -
Not in my experience - I have an EE sim in an old 4G non-VoLTE smartphone and it drops to 2G fine for calls with 4G data being restored almost immediately after the call ends.PHK said:

Thats a different situation. A call can start on 2G but as I mentioned, a call already in progress using VoLTE can no longer drop to 2G.muffinhead said:
